Heading into week one, there are plenty of story lines out there I’ll be watching intently. I’ll even rank them for you.
#1 Aaron Rogers – Brett Favre who? Can the Packers be better without Favre? Yes, yes they can.
#2 Brady down – With a nagging ankle injury and a beat up O-line, can Brady survive the season? I don’t envision Matt Cassell leading the Pats to the Superbowl.
#3 Down on Indy – Why are so many people down on the Colts? If they can win seven of their first eleven games, the last five are easy wins.
#4 Rookie Running Backs – McFadden, Smith, Jones, Mendenhall, Stewart, Forte and Hightower. Lot’s of young backs to drool over. Who will be the star? While down the stretch I think McFadden will be rolling, I’m picking Kevin Smith to lead the rookies in rushing.
#5 Favre/Pennington – Who wins more games, Favre in New York or Pennington in Miami? This one is easy, Favre has the better arm and the better team. Favre wins 8, Pennington wins 5, but they’ll split their season series.
#6 Chicago Bears QB – Orton…can he make the world forget about Rex Grossman?
#7 Matt Leinart, bust – Can he really be this bad or is Kurt Warner just this good? Don’t be surprised to see him back in as starter by mid-season.
#8 Giants Sackless Attack – The G-Men sacked the Patriots perfect season last year, but thanks to retirement and injury, the Giants defense has lost 22 sacks. Who’s going to pressure the quarterback?
#9 Browns Title Contenders – We’ll find out in week one if the Browns are for real. While I believe they’ll be good and fun to watch, they’re not title contenders. Romo will shred up their non-existent secondary in week one.
#10 Vikings Quarterbacks – Will the QB position ruin a solid Vikings team?
