Actually, that’s a lie, they don’t hate cancer research, or maybe they do. It’s not important.
As a Cowboy fan living in New York, whose wife and father-in-law are NY Giants season ticket holders, I’ve come to hate Giants fans. Actually, hates too strong of a word. I hate Eagles fans, Giants fans I just find annoying. They’re not bad in a cruel way and I can deal with the occasional yell of ‘fag’ and/or Tony Homo (this is what I get when I wear my Cowboys hat, even when they’re not playing. It’s just that they’re so damn depressing.
They’re so damn self-loathing. Nothing positive comes out of their mouth. Despite the fact they’ve been one of the most successful franchise over the last 25 years (prior to last season, three Superbowl trips, two wins), the fans just can’t stop being so depressed and so negative about their team. When a player breaks out for a good run, instead of yelling “Run!” they yell, “Don’t fumble!”
Anyhow, I think I came to finally appreciate the Giants fans tonight during halftime. During the break, the owner, Steve Tisch, along with Christine Brinkley and two other people came out to midfield to speak about some cancer research telethon (I couldn’t really hear, the audio was awful). Anyhow, Tisch spoke first and the fans let him have it…BIG TIME. The entire two minutes he spoke, the fans booed and the longer it went on, the stronger they booed. It didn’t matter that it was for a good cause. As soon as he was done, Christine came up and the crowd roared with approval. It was by far, one of the best moments I’ve seen at a Giants game (for the record, they booed the two other men too).
In case you don’t know, the Giants (and the Jets) are getting a new stadium and the owners are charging the season ticket holders an astonishing seat licensing fee that range from $1,000 to $20,000! You read that right, 20Gs just to earn the right to keep your seat. My father-in-law, who has seats in both the good and bad sections, will be giving up his good seats. 30+ years of loyalty and this is how the owners repay him?
Personally, I think the Giants fans next year should boycott their two pre-season games. Yes, I’m aware the tickets are already paid for, but send a message to these people. An empty stadium, even for pre-season, won’t be missed. Also, it will hurt them a little with zero sales during those games.
Anyhow, good job Giants fans and speaking of Christine Brinkley…I cannot count the number of times when I was a kid when I thought of her when I…enough said, just enjoy.

She makes pollution look sexy.
